Trips improvements

pagination for startpage of trips added in r5934

I tested on production.
system: ubuntu 8.04, webbrowser:epiphany 2.22.1.1.

General Design and Functionality

* I would prefer if the map doesnt fill the whole length of the site.
* Explain better what is Trip, blog post, subtrip. Especially the workflow: how to create subtrips! And when writing a blog post make it more obvious, that you can (and should..) attach a trip and/or a location and that you can decide if it`s going to be public/protected/private.

Functionality (small things)

and clicked on the "Map"-Link of a blogpost.

and clicked Actions: Show my trips https://www.bewelcome.org/trip/show/my I was directed to the right page, but got a warning(see below). Though the trips are not visible on the map on this site.

Design (small things)

* the trips on the mapy are only visible as flags of subtrips. Would it be possible to draw the lines of the routes? And for the overview only draw the start and end flags (or smaller flags for trip stations (subtrips)?

* List of subtrips: the date of subtrips/stations could be put in front of the places?

* Details, map of this trip... Show photoset
--> should be shorter (symbol or only one word) and separated
--> instead of Details: make the trip title clickable to get direct to the trip details?

i uploaded a small CSS-change for the detailed trip-view (r5937). Is it better like that? I removed the strong background on dates and added a slight border next to it. I also fitted the numbers and City-names better on the map.

Search Trips - Geo Leveling

It would be nice to find a Trip which leads to Paris as well if you search for trips in France or even Europe. Hopefully for Europe this search will be full soon but for other regions? Southamerica it would be pretty nice actually.

After creating a Sub-trip I m forwarded to the Bogs. Feels strange for me because in the action menu I can t create another Sub-Trip right away. I ve got to click me through the Trips-> My Trips- Create Sub-trip again.

Ohh hjeah and since we have a big map already on the trips page. What aout showing an Icon wherever an upcomng trip is going to?

I just wanted to change the destination for my trip in Mexcio. Could not firgure out a way to do so. I can edit the text but not the destination.

Trips do change a lot - at least mine.... users should be able to change destinations afterwards.

What do you mean by that? A trip itself doesn't have a location set. Only subtrips have destinations or better "locations". You can edit them by following the edit-link at the bottom of them. Currently you only see the edit-link once you open the full subtrip/blogpost. Maybe this led to confusions..

Something else that I think is needed:

• A backlink from a gallery that has been assigned to a trip to this trip!
• A backlink from a blog post that belongs to a trip to this trip
• for both of the above we would need a good indicator (an icon or addition to the title) to make clear they're connected to a trip
• Make trip-titles and trip-dates editable from the trip-list (using inplace-editor or similar) - just because dates and titles change often.
• Add link to the trip-items in list-view to edit them (and so edit their text)
• At best remove all unwanted redirects to the blog-application. Instead provide a native view for full subtrip-posts and so on

More little bugs:

• special chars don't always seem to work with the SPAF maps. E.g. "Sokch'o" can't be selected. Maybe only JS problem?
• location-selection should make use of the new geo-selector from signup
• "BlogsCreateFinishTexts?" should not show up in hidden form-field but above, visible after creating a tripstation
• On trip creation, the date from the latest station should be selected by default
• In Trips-Overview: Show last edited trips on top, not last created.

possible improvement:

• add "back" and "forward" buttons to easiely get from one tripstation to the next

Every trip page has a wrong link.

You can not delete Blog categories.

Improve Navigation

The navigation of blogs and trips is still quite confusing.

We need navigation links to jump between profile of member X, all trips by , individual trip, all trips in region by any member, all blog posts by member X, etc.

The "trips" menu item in the top menu is far less important.

Another nice thing would be "my friends' trips"

Would be nice if we could have a e-mail notification/RSS Feed of people who are going to visit a City/Region/Country.

If I could get a notive that a BW Member is going to visit Costa Rica I could invite him to stya over at my place.

Maybe he would not search in the little town I live but if I invite him/her they would come.

(Move travellers from Big Cities into smaller communities)

added a different sorting mechanism in r6395. A change in tripstations makes the trip show up on top of the list now.
