Design of the Signup process
First step
Information required to receive an application: (corresponding explanations and possibility to hide it are included)
All of this happens on the Signup Page.
- username
- password
- full name (hide or not)
- email and email confirmation
- location chapter.
- we require complete address (street, number) for everybody, including ones who don't have.
- the CS approach, (we require location (country and city or "in travel around the world", or "from France"). The real address is another step) were left after long discussions
- gender (possibility to select "i don't tell")
- birth year. Optional birthdate (hide or not)
- (Nationality)
- optional fields:
- language to surf
- profile summary or something like that ?
- feedback/problem
- how do you know about us?
- accepting the terms.
An email is generated immediately which requires email confirmation
- disagreement whether confirmation of the email is required to keep on the application, or if it can go without, email confirmation being required to use all site features.
Second step
Waiting for the required data to be checked by concerned volunteers, the new member has a reduced access to BeWelcome. He can not contact members nor see any of their private information, but can already surf through the site, explore maps and groups, read the forum (but not post) Of course at his first connection the member is proposed to fill more fields for his profile and preference. If he doesn't fill it, he will be reminded, by online proposal or by email (like in CS)
Third Step
Once volunteers validate real name and address, the member is notified that he has access to the whole tools of the site.
